Mountain Leadership Institute (MLI) values the experience of the mountains and developing leaders in the outdoors. We recognize that many young people today have never experienced the brilliance of an alpine lake or the solitude of a mountain summit, or the joy of a wild stream. Our city life is filled with artificial noise and space. We rush from appointment to appointment always on the go. Our souls long for the tranquility and simplicity of nature and the chance to challenge ourselves intellectually, spiritually and physically.
The majesty of the wilderness provides opportunities for life-changing learning and character building. We believe that the outdoors should be accessible to everyone. That is why our program exists as a non-profit. We depend on people who share our values to share financially and give the gift of the outdoors to others.
